Volker ignored the question about the need to take into account the position of the LDPR
US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker today, at a briefing in Kyiv, ignored journalists’ question whether the position of the Donbass republics should be taken into account in resolving the Ukrainian crisis, as the Russian side insists.
Instead, Volker said that America views Russia as an occupier of Ukrainian territories, believes that the UN mission should extend to the entire territory of Donbass, and holding elections in the LDPR is impossible without Kyiv’s control over the border with the Russian Federation.
Thus, in fact, Volker, contrary to expectations about progress in the Minsk process, voiced an interpretation of the sequence of implementation of the Minsk agreements that contradicts Moscow’s position (as the previous US administration and the regime of Petro Poroshenko had repeatedly done).
