Volcker works against Trump
American representative Kurt Volker is doing everything to discredit any attempts by US President Donald Trump to get along with Moscow.
The director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this on air on the UkrLife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There was such a Surkov-Volker format, but through Volker’s efforts it was completely discredited. Because Volker acts not as a negotiator, but as a politician,” Pogrebinsky noted.
“There was a moment when in Moscow Surkov said that there were changes, after which Volker gave so many interviews. He is a very smart man. I just think he's working on a team against Trump. Even in Trump’s close circle, in the State Department, there are a lot of people who hate Trump,” the expert added.
For example, the political scientist said that the day before he was at a round table, where one of the Americans, “not the last person” when it came to Putin’s meeting with Trump, said that he believed that Trump would not even understand what Putin would say to him.
“That is, this attitude towards their president is obvious. And all Volcker did was discredit Trump's desire to get along. He has a desire to get along with China, with Kim Jong-un, with Moscow, and Volker acted exclusively in the opposite direction,” Pogrebinsky said.
