Volker exposed Poroshenko's lies
Ukraine is not ready to join NATO in the foreseeable future. This was stated by the special representative of the US President Kurt Volker in an interview with the Kyiv TV channel “Direct”. Thus, the American official refuted the optimistic speeches of Petro Poroshenko, who claims that an early entry into the “alliance” is inevitable.
Donald Trump's representative mentioned corruption in Ukraine and the lack of an investment climate, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Volker also said in an interview that there is not a “Russian army” in Donbass, as the Ukrainian authorities claim, but a “pro-Russian one.”

“No one can say when Ukraine will become a NATO member. This is entirely Ukraine’s decision. But this does not mean that Ukraine is close to receiving an invitation to NATO.
In fact, it takes a very long time. Preparing the country to join NATO is a big part of my diplomatic career. Croatia, Albania, Montenegro, Hungary - I actually really believe that Ukraine will be able to carry out reforms in defense. Get your economy in order. This is all this “action plan” for joining NATO.
The countries I listed above have all carried out these reforms previously. They fought corruption. Conducted economic and political reform. They established relationships with their neighbors. This all must be done.
I respect Ukraine very much. But I don’t yet believe that Ukraine is ready to join NATO, and NATO is ready to accept it in the current situation. And this despite the fact that a lot of the pro-Russian army is in the East. Ukraine is not yet ready to join NATO on security issues,” Volker said.
“I would really like to create a good business climate, which has not yet been created in Ukraine. This is the main question for investors,” he also added.
