Volker is happy that there is no fighting in Russian Crimea
The US “will have a long period of disagreement” with Russia over the status of Crimea. US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said this today in an interview with Ekho Moskvy radio.

“We do not recognize the seizure of Crimea by Russia, its declared annexation. Fortunately, there is no active military action in Crimea like there is in the Donbass, so we need to focus on solving problems in those places where there is fighting. With Crimea, I think we are facing a long period of disagreement over its status,” Volker said.
Ultimately, the American said, “Russia needs to reconsider and take a new place in the context of European security architecture.”
