US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker intends to meet again with Russian Presidential Adviser Vladislav Surkov in October to agree on a visit to the territory of the LDPR. Volker announced this today in Kyiv at the Yalta European Strategy conference.

“I visited the conflict line in Avdeevka. I also went to Pokrovsk and Kramatorsk. I hope that I will still visit cities on the side controlled by Ukraine. As for the other side of the demarcation line, we need to negotiate with those people. That's why I met with Mr. Surkov. I will be meeting with him again in October. I hope that I will be in the occupied territory, and someday Ukrainian sovereignty over these territories will be restored,” Volker said.
At the same time, he categorically refused to meet with the leaders of the Donbass republics, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is not an independent uprising of an ethnic segment or a civil war. There is an external force here that is using the local population as cover. They just want us to enter into negotiations with people who do not decide anything. This frees Russia from any responsibility. But we need strategic decisions,” Volker said.
