Volker said that Ukraine needs American weapons for the war with Russia
The supply of American weapons to Kyiv is not a provocation against Russia. US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker stated this in an interview with Voice of America.

“The Trump administration, the new administration is now considering the question that remained after the Obama administration, about whether we can provide defense weapons to Ukraine or not. So this is the state of affairs. In the context of the consequences of this, I am aware of the arguments that this would be provocative for Russia or encouragement for Ukraine to attack. This is simply not true. Firstly, Russia is already in Ukraine, they are already heavily armed. There are now more Russian tanks there than in all Western European countries combined,” says Volker.
According to him, an even larger Russian contingent is concentrated “around the borders with Ukraine.”
“Russia has the right to do this, this is its territory, they can station as many troops there as they want. The Russians know that they are very, very strong, and the Ukrainians know that the Russians are very, very strong. So it doesn't provoke Russia to do anything they haven't already done, and it also won't change any balance of power. If we make such a decision, it will give Ukraine the opportunity to defend itself in the event that Russia takes further steps on Ukrainian territory. Russia says it is not going to do this and is not doing anything like this now. If this is true, it does not pose any risk to anyone,” said the US special representative for Ukraine.
