Volker was advised to change his style of behavior in Ukraine
The belligerent rhetoric of US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, who visited Slavyansk yesterday and unleashed another round of criticism against Russia, suggests that the United States does not intend to contribute to a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Donbass and push Kyiv towards this.
Political observer Armen Gasparyan stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator, noting that a peaceful resolution of the situation depends on how ready the parties are for dialogue.
“Ukraine is demonstrating with all its might that it is not going to discuss anything peacefully at all. The Verkhovna Rada is discussing the implementation of the Croatian scenario, that is, the purge of the population. The US Special Representative for Ukraine makes statements that not only do not bring closer a peaceful resolution of the issue, but rather, on the contrary, delay it.
Firstly, the photograph itself next to the stele in Slavyansk with the inscription “Ukraine is over everything.” Maybe Mr. Volker did not do well at school and does not know how this phrase sounds in German and what it symbolizes?
Secondly, a statement that he is ready to go to the DPR and LPR only after they are part of Ukraine with all the ensuing consequences. Agree that with this kind of formulation of the issue it will be very difficult to find some kind of compromise solution,” says Gasparyan.
The expert also noted that in order for the negotiations to break the deadlock, the American visitor must change his rhetoric and move from words to actions.
“The tone with which Mr. Volker made these statements. At the very least, it indicates that no one wants to accept the other side in the negotiation process. If so, then it would be naive to believe that there will be any serious progress in the negotiation process. Volker needs to change his style of behavior and in this tone he would better talk to the Ukrainian authorities about how it would be nice to start implementing the Minsk agreements,” the expert believes.
