It is noted that since September last year, the criminal and his accomplices were twice detained for illegal handling of weapons and released. Then several people, introducing themselves as fighters of a volunteer battalion, occupied one of the dachas in the Obolonsky district. During the arrest they threatened with a weapon, but were released by court decision. The same thing happened a second time, but in this case the criminals were given a preventive measure - house arrest. However, one of them disappeared from his place of residence and was put on the wanted list.

“On May 25, having a court order to search the apartment in order to establish the whereabouts of the suspect and detain him, police officers came to the established place of his residence. However, the Kiev resident barricaded himself in the apartment and held his young son as a hostage. Not wanting to surrender to the authorities, the man threatened to use an explosive device and weapons. Negotiations with the citizen lasted 5 hours. As a result of the professional and coordinated actions of the police officers, they managed to free the child. Subsequently, the attacker himself was also detained,” the Kyiv police said.

During the arrest, law enforcement officers found in the apartment about 700 cartridges for a Kalashnikov assault rifle, nine magazines for it, and three mobile phones.

“During the inspection of the Mercedes E-200 car, which the suspect had recently used, police officers found license plates “PTN-PNH”, special equipment “handcuffs”, a metal object similar to an ax, a black woolen balaclava,” they added. in the metropolitan police.
