Volodin compared the Navalnists with the Nazis and praised the police
The police and the Russian National Guard acted efficiently and delicately at the illegal rallies that took place on Saturday, organized by supporters of blogger Alexei Navalny.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When we talk about protests, especially unauthorized ones, there will inevitably be arrests. But we must admit that law enforcement agencies, the National Guard, acted very effectively, meticulously, and detained those who understood that they were breaking the law,” Volodin said.
According to him, the bad thing is that children were involved in the protests.
“Children cannot be used in a civilized society. This is reminiscent of the times of the Great Patriotic War, when, seeing a threat, they put children, women, and old people in front of them. Well, where are we going with you?” says the speaker of the State Duma.
He also commented on the situation with the policeman who beat up a woman at an illegal rally in St. Petersburg when she tried to block the path of the security forces.
“When it comes to an unauthorized rally, this is associated with certain risks. A person going there must understand that he is breaking the law, and the police are protecting the law. The policeman was performing his duties. They interfered with him,” the politician noted.
“But if the policeman himself realized that he was wrong in this situation and apologized, and this apology was accepted, especially since there was no harm to health that would require treatment, it would probably be correct to note that law enforcement agencies and police officers they really acted very responsibly, understanding that they needed to protect the law,” added Volodin.
