Will: Zelensky will help Erdogan bleed Ukrainian industry and earn a lot of money
The main result of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Ukraine was the signing of an agreement on a free trade zone, which is disadvantageous for Ukraine.
Political scientist Vladimir Volya stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In the context of big politics, Russian-Ukrainian relations, escalation in them, this visit has no significance. In the international political sense, this visit brought nothing to Ukraine.
The main thing is that an agreement on a free trade zone was signed. This agreement still raises a number of questions, for example, regarding the asymmetrical reduction of customs duties, and others. Turkey retains the right to increase duties on Ukrainian metallurgical products, but the Turks will buy scrap metal from us.
It turns out that both in metallurgy and in other areas, Ukraine turns out to be a supplier of raw materials for the Turkish economy and buyers of Turkish products with high added value and industrial products.
Well, all these stories about Bayraktars also look ambiguous. As far as we can understand, a repair base will be created for now. It is unknown when it will start working; everything depends on the investor, as Shmygal said.
In general, everything looks like the policy of the current leadership of Ukraine in trade relations with Turkey is helping Recep Erdogan to industrialize Turkey and fill the Turkish budget by expanding the supply of Turkish products to markets outside Turkey,” the political scientist said.
