Volyn miners go to Kyiv to demand wages together with colleagues from Krivoy Rog

About it Chairman of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine Mikhail Volynets said on Facebook.

“Today, miners from the State Enterprise “Mine No. 1 Novovolynskaya” are sent to Kyiv, who have wage arrears of over 3,5 million hryvnia for February, March, April. They can join the miners’ protest in Krivoy Rog,” the message says.

He also said that negotiations in Krivoy Rog, where miners refused to rise to the surface until their salaries were increased, were not proceeding constructively. According to Volynets, the miners of EVRAZ Sukhaya Balka PJSC were asked to end the protest today, and announce a decision on a salary increase in a week.

Miners of the mines named after. Frunze and Yubileiny, part of the Evraz Sukhaya Balka mining and processing enterprise, in particular, compiled a list of demands for management, including a 100% increase in salaries; health benefits in the amount of the average salary; return of service to surface structures; salary indexation taking into account inflation.

Workers say the protests will continue until they achieve results.

According to official information, the Evraz mines will not work until May 19 - on this day they will give an official response to the miners’ demands.
