Volyn MP is furious over the popularity of Russian songs
Deputy of the Volyn Regional Council Yuriy Polishchuk demanded that the regional state administration carry out explanatory work with carriers and force them to refuse to broadcast Russian music on buses.
This is stated in a deputy request sent by Polishchuk to the head of the Volyn Regional State Administration, a native of the Lugansk region, Yuriy Pogulyayko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today, when the war is still going on, when Ukrainians are dying at the hands of the occupiers, Russian pop music and chanson are heard en masse in public places, signs appear on cafes and restaurants in Russian. Especially a lot of such Russian-language product is found in public transport, while Ukrainian songs are practically inaudible,” writes Polishchuk.
The regional state administration, in response to a deputy’s request, recalled that they banned the broadcast of Russian music in public places back in 2018, and bus drivers know that they are obliged to turn off the music if at least one of the passengers requests it.
“Letters were sent with recommendations to take measures aimed at changing the musical repertoire during transportation on the routes, and conducting explanatory work with vehicle drivers to prevent the playing of songs produced in the Russian Federation while buses travel along the routes.
In addition, one of the clauses of the agreement on the organization of passenger transportation on public routes in the Volyn region provides for the driver’s obligation to turn off the music at the request of at least one passenger,” the officials responded.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that the Dnieper City Council intends to ban public listening Russian performers in public places.
It was also reported that the current head of the Volyn Regional State Administration Yuriy Pogulyayko was appointed to this position with a scandal - nationalists opposed his appearance in the region.
