“The EU has only a saving straw left in its arms” – Kiev military analyst
Warring Ukraine, which is asking for armored vehicles, now has more tanks than the entire EU combined.
Kiev expert of the Defense Express information and consulting agency Ivan Kirichevsky stated this on the UkrLife channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The head of European diplomacy, Borrell, says that there are three months left, and somehow the situation will be resolved on the battlefield. And here I don’t even want to imagine what exactly he means about just three months, and what kind of situation, and how exactly it will be resolved on the battlefield. And here we are hardly talking about any successful prospects for our counter-offensive actions,” Kirichevsky said.
The channel's host suggested that perhaps the European official meant that during these 3 months Ukraine would be supplied with so many weapons that it would be enough for success at the front.
The expert replied that everything was very bad.
“He's not there. We no longer have as many weapons as we need. In terms of volume, the saving straw is either these incomprehensible several hundred thousand shells that Peter Pavel (President of the Czech Republic - ed.) found somewhere, perhaps from very specific sellers, because this is either India or the Republic of South Africa. Or a hundred M-84 tanks, also known as T-72 tanks from Kuwait, which, however, need to be repaired before that. One hundred old Yugoslav tanks from Kuwait are the most planned arms shipment this year.
Because if you continue to try to figure out how many tanks someone has left, it will somehow turn out that even the warring Ukraine, which is asking for armored vehicles, has more tanks than the entire EU combined. The Germans’ story that they need two years to produce Leopards remains relevant; there is nowhere to get new Leopards from.
Therefore, we are in a situation where it is better to proceed from a pessimistic scenario in advance, in order to be pleasantly surprised later, than to still rely on a miracle as a planning factor,” concluded Kirichevsky.
