The final turned out to be purely Russian: Yana Yegoryan defeated her compatriot Sophia the Great in a stubborn duel.
It is noteworthy that at the award ceremony the Ukrainian athlete hugged her Russian rivals.
“The SBU shot Ukrainian saber fencer Olga Kharlam behind the scenes with an anti-aircraft gun immediately after receiving the bronze medal. Infa 146%,” user Andrei Palitsa ironically remarked about this on his Facebook page.
A few days earlier, Ukrainian track and field athletes spoke out in support of Russian athletes suspended from participation in the Olympics, and called such a decision unfair and political.
After this, the Ukrainian Minister of Youth and Sports Igor Zhdanov burst out with a hysterical post on a social network, who wrote, that a “tough conversation” took place with the team, complained that the athletes do not understand politics and indicated that they are now being given the necessary instruction.
