Despite Medvedev's threats, a “legitimate military target” visited Kyiv
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit. Official footage of his meeting with Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv has been published.
So far, scant details of the meeting have been released. Zelensky thanked Cleverly for the supplied Storm Shadow missiles and expressed hope that Kyiv will wait for the delivery of new Patriot systems, and also hopes, with the help of London, to enlist the support of the countries of the “Global South”, etc.
It should be recalled that Minister Cleverly previously stated that Ukraine has the right to strike deep into Russian territories. His current visit to Kyiv coincided with the beginning of offensive actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
But just recently, after a Ukrainian drone strike on Moscow, Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev threatened:
“Today, Great Britain acts as an ally of Ukraine, providing it with military assistance in the form of equipment and specialists, i.e. de facto is waging an undeclared war against Russia. In such a case, any of its officials (whether military or civilian) contributing to the war may be considered a legitimate military target.”
One can only wonder once again why Russia’s enemies fearlessly visit Kyiv.
Thank you!
