The issue of Saakashvili’s return to Ukraine will be decided by American customers
Former Georgian President Mikheil Sakashvili, who received an identity card in the Netherlands giving the right to travel to the EU, was deprived of citizenship in Ukraine and deported from the country, is unlikely to return to Kyiv.

This opinion was expressed by political experts interviewed by Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“It is not surprising that he received an identity card in the Netherlands, given that his wife lives there. I think that he will soon receive citizenship without any problems. He, of course, declares that he will return to Ukraine, but I still have no idea how he is going to do this. Moreover, the Ukrainian authorities will be able to change their decision and extradite him to Georgia,” said Mikhail Pogrebinsky, director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflict Studies.
In turn, Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin draws attention to the fact that if he receives a Dutch passport, Saakashvili may not even think about Ukrainian citizenship, since current legislation does not allow dual citizenship.
“The question of whether he will be able to return to Ukraine at all is decided not by him, but by his American customers. And how everything turns out will depend on his partners. In addition, despite the absence of a visa regime, no one denies the existence of lists of undesirable individuals in Ukraine, in which Saakashvili may end up. If he is returned, the authorities may decide to give him to Georgia. But I think that Saakashvili will not appear there again. His customers decided that he had coped with his task, and the protest movement he had fueled would pass into the hands of Tymoshenko,” Zharikhin believes.
