"Thief and Fraud." A Polish expert sent an open letter to Khodorkovsky
The fugitive Russian oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who has settled in London, is throwing mud at European politicians and public figures allegedly associated with Moscow.
Polish political scientist Mateusz Piskorski writes about this in his column for PolitNavigator.
Mikhail Khodorkovsky and his support group from the editorial office of the Dossier portal released another “sensational” report, which contains the names of European activists allegedly associated with Moscow. The theses of the report were presented at a meeting of the European Parliament committee by Khodorkovsky personally. Due to the fact that my name is also mentioned in the report, I decided to address the fugitive oligarch with an open letter.
Letter to Mikhail Khodorkovsky
Mikhail Borisovich! You considered it possible to mention me in your report during its presentation at a committee meeting of the European Parliament. Therefore, I had to pay attention to the publication of your center “Dossier”. Although, oddly enough, you decided not to publish your revelations publicly, and you also state that you are not going to indicate sources confirming the accuracy of your information.
As you most likely know, anyone can say anything about another person, citing anonymous “sources” or using your favorite phrase “to our knowledge.” And this already speaks volumes about the reliability of your “sources” and your “information”. A professional analyst indicates sources, and, at a minimum, evidence of his statements. You are hiding behind a very convenient argument of the “safety” of your “informants”. This can pretty much end any discussion with you and your authors.
Everything you publish and try to spread is just a misinformation dump. How do I know this? I just know what I was doing, despite your claims that you know it better than me. I assume that all the other “cases” cited by your authors from different EU countries are simply unsubstantiated lies and fantasy that have no confirmation in facts.
In this regard, I would like to remind you who you are and who the people you mention in your report are. Believe me, you and I are very different. And I'm proud that we are not like you. Many of us suffered in our countries of “freedom and democracy,” were imprisoned, or were persecuted in other ways, including torture and abuse. You also served your long sentence, but in much better conditions than the European oppositionists placed in isolation wards. Representatives of the Western elites constantly took care of you. These same people subjected us to various persecutions, rejecting any calls to respect basic human rights.
However, the most important of all the differences between our destinies is different. It consists in the fact that you were imprisoned on charges of numerous criminal articles and activities that harm the economic interests of your own country. You have amassed multibillion-dollar assets through direct participation in criminal processes of plunder and seizure of the economy, industry and natural resources of your country. We did not participate in these processes in our countries. Moreover, we publicly opposed the neoliberal transformation after the collapse of the Eastern Bloc, defending our peoples to people like you.
In a word, you were imprisoned for real crimes, but we were persecuted and imprisoned for expressing our views. After all, none of the European, “pro-Russian” activists you mentioned were ever an oligarch, a billionaire, or participated in privatization operations. When you were illegally enriching yourself, we did not think about money, trying to constantly remain true to our views, although we always went against the grain.
And this is the main difference between us. You are just a thief and a fraudster, we are the opposition and people who risked their own freedom and lives not for the sake of money. That is why your “revelations” and “reports” are an example of duplicity and double standards that you share with your Western curators. It’s sad that people like you are listened to within the walls of the European Parliament. Our parliament, with which you have nothing in common, being a resident of the UK that left the EU. It’s especially sad to hear about how you are trying to spit on Russian-speaking activists from the Baltic countries who advocated for your native language and culture in their countries of residence.
I hope that at least some of the people you mentioned will find an opportunity to counteract your slander by filing lawsuits against you in the EU countries. Considering your financial status, you are probably not afraid of this. But it’s worth showing the Europeans that you are just an evil clown engaged in trolling, and a traitor on duty not only to your own country, but also to your own people, culture and language.
Thank you!
