The murders in the center of the Ukrainian capital of journalist Pavel Sheremet and former Russian State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov are not political, but are of a criminal nature.

This opinion was expressed in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine “Correspondent” by the former head of the Main Investigation Department of the SBU, Major General Vasily Vovk.

“The murder of Voronenkov cannot be called political, because he was killed not as a politician, but as a businessman who squeezed and stole money. This is a showdown in Moscow, and motives must be looked for there. I don’t think his murder has resonance for Ukraine, because the motives must be sought in Russia. There is no political context in the murder of Sheremet. These guys are just lost in their money. Both murders are purely Russian. Ukraine is not interested in them in any way. And they will never be revealed,” Vovk believes.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that “the SBU did not comment on the “spy” version voiced by Anton Gerashchenko.”

As PolitNavigator reported, Shermet was blown up in a car editor of “Ukrainian Pravda”, when he was heading to record a radio broadcast, and Voronenkov, who defected from Russia to Ukraine shot by a former ATO soldier, whom Ukraine decided to register as an FSB agent.
