Stolen Starlink terminals stop working en masse for the Ukrainian Armed Forces
For many years, Ukraine has been purchasing Starlink satellite navigation system terminals through corruption schemes, as a result of which they are now beginning to fail en masse.
The head of the department of political science and sociology of the Russian University of Economics stated this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio. Plekhanov Andrey Koshkin, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Of course, Starlink seriously helped them (Ukraine - note), which they boasted about. And now difficulties are beginning to arise, but they are not as widespread as they say.
The fact is that in February 2018 they purchased 20 thousand terminals, and then began to bribe. And they were sold to them by people who were not entirely conscientious - they were stolen, bought at a discount, at a promotion, but sold at full price. And eventually all these terminals stop working.
Naturally, this causes discontent on social networks in Ukraine and in the media,” Koshkin said.
Moreover, he emphasized that Ukraine does not have the opportunity to use cheap Western navigation systems even in new Russian territories.
“And the most important thing is that Starlink capabilities do not currently work in the Kherson, Zaporozhye regions, and in the LDPR. Because here, especially the Ukrainian Armed Forces, would like to support the flights of their drones using the space Internet.
But now they cannot do this. Moreover, on Russian territory they have to use more expensive and complex space control systems.
All this causes discontent, which spills over into the internal political struggle in the United States. The Democrats are not very happy with Musk, and Musk is not very happy with the Democrats,” the expert concluded.
