Orientalist: Fear for its fate is pushing China towards Russia
Russia and China yesterday concluded a number of economic agreements in Beijing that are of interest to both parties. Beijing stepped up cooperation with Moscow because it realized the seriousness of the West’s unfriendly plans.
Russian orientalist Alexey Maslov stated this in an interview with the Vesti FM radio station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is an agreement with Rosneft (it has long been an active participant in the Chinese market) and Huawei Corporation, which is in a difficult situation; it was driven out of all Western markets. Although Huawei has been working in Russia for a very long time, there has been no breakthrough. An agreement has now been concluded with the largest Russian corporation.
Plus, Russia becomes the largest supplier of energy resources to China, which China did not want for a long time, so as not to put all its eggs in one basket. Finally, Russia is becoming the largest supplier of agricultural products. This is very beneficial for us,” Maslov said.
He also mentioned the agreement to build a joint lunar station. The expert admitted that Russian companies will be allowed into the Chinese market.
“If Russia has been experiencing blows to its economy since 2014, China has long tried to reduce everything to some controversial issues of tariff agreements. When China was “attacked” in the same way as Russia: sanctions were announced against businessmen, the largest Chinese corporation Huawei is not allowed into the Western world - indeed sanctions limit China’s growth, it begins to change its position. It became clear that this was not an economic dispute. This is a dispute about the fate of the country,” Maslov said.
