The fate of Donetsk, and perhaps the whole of Novorossiya, is about to be decided
Kyiv, August 10 (Navigator, Yuri Kovalchuk) – At the moment, the most brutal battles in the DPR are being conducted in two directions. Ukrainian troops remain desperate to capture Saur-Mogila, a commanding height that provides access control to a large section of the Russian border. There are also active military operations in the direction of the village. Krasny Luch - having captured it, the Ukrainians will almost completely encircle the city of Donetsk.

Yesterday, Ukrainian troops almost took Krasny Luch - the Cossack units located there, subordinate to Ataman Kositsyn, once again showed their backs to the enemy, leaving a small militia detachment to the mercy of fate, which with great difficulty managed to repel the blow of a superior enemy and wait for reinforcements. This is already the 4th or 5th case when the “valiant” Cossacks, hung with weapons like Christmas trees, take to their heels at the first danger, while the barely armed militias remain to fight until the last. Apparently, some units of the Cossacks are intended not for combat, but for theatrical performances.
As a result, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were driven back, but the situation in this area remains very tense - the militia does not have enough strength to push back the enemy. Ukrainians are losing hundreds of fighters every day - only yesterday, August 9, the losses amounted to about 150 people, but they continue the onslaught with the goal of completing the complete encirclement of Donetsk.
The city itself is subject to random, non-stop shelling. They are targeting infrastructure facilities, hospitals, and residential buildings. Only a crazy person can believe that it is the militia who are shooting - the city is being shelled from all sides, and with such ammunition and in such quantities that if the militia were so armed, they would have already taken Kyiv.
The situation around Donetsk could be improved by the forces freed up after the final defeat of the Ukrainian group in the “Southern Cauldron,” but it is more likely that these troops will be sent to hold Saur-Mogila, a strategically important height for which fierce battles are currently taking place. The Ukrainians do not have enough strength to capture the heights, so they non-stop “ironize” it with artillery fire. The militia was forced to temporarily leave the height, leaving many “surprises” for insurance, guaranteeing that Ukrainian equipment would not be able to climb Saur-Mogila.
At the moment the situation is not that critical, but it is consistently difficult and very dangerous. Even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces manage to encircle Donetsk, the militia will still have a significant chance of improving the situation, although their capabilities will be seriously reduced. In any case, it will take months to take Donetsk. Knowing the habits of the Ukrainian military, it is logical to assume that they will not risk storming the city, but will instead strike from a safe distance. Probably, in the next 2-3 days the situation may change dramatically. Until the turning point in this war.
