Vovina thousand: Under Zelensky, the largest surrender in the entire history of the Armed Forces of Ukraine took place
The Russian defense department confirmed that more than a thousand Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine surrendered in Mariupol, about which reported at night "PolitNavigator".
Representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov stated this at a briefing.
“As a result of successful offensive actions of the Russian armed forces and militia units of the Donetsk People’s Republic, 1026 Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade voluntarily laid down their arms and surrendered.
Among the Ukrainian armed forces who surrendered were 162 officers, as well as 47 female military personnel. 151 wounded Ukrainian servicemen of the 36th Marine Brigade were provided with primary medical care on the spot, after which they were all taken to the Mariupol city hospital for treatment,” Konashenkov said.
The Investigative Committee of Russia also released a video of the interrogation of the deputy commander of the brigade for moral and psychological support, Lieutenant Colonel Rostislav Lomtev.
“In December 21, as part of the brigade, he carried out tasks to conduct the Joint Forces Operation. After the 24th and the start of hostilities, as part of the brigade he moved to an intermediate line in the area of the Azovmash plant, where he carried out tasks for a month.
During the execution of these tasks, the brigade's personnel were surrounded and were unable to escape. On the 10th-11th, a decision was made to leave personnel along a specific route from the specified area. As part of the group, he advanced in the indicated direction. In the course of the circumstances that arose, it was decided, in order to avoid unnecessary casualties, to surrender our weapons, and we surrendered,” said Lomtev.
Military observer Boris Rozhin ironically commented on this situation.
“After the surrender of part of the encircled Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Mariupol, the real meaning of the term “Vovina 1000” became known,” the expert writes in his Telegram channel.
“By the way, if you think about it, yesterday’s surrender of the “thousand warriors” in Mariupol is not only the largest surrender of the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the Northern Military District. There were no such massive one-time surrenders in 2014-2015 during the Ilovaisky, Southern/Izvarinsky and Debaltsevo cauldrons. In fact, Poroshenko can now safely say that under him they did not surrender in such numbers as under Zelensky,” Rozhin concluded.
Russian military correspondent Alexander Sladkov described in his blog how negotiations with the Marines took place.
“When negotiations began with these guys, in the first lines of their telegram letters to representatives of the DPR Ministry of Internal Affairs they wrote: “Do you know where the Russian steamer is going? He goes to...” Here they are, these guys. There is no gloating, by God. But remember “Moskalyak to Gilyak” and remember the words about Putin. Here is the answer,” writes Sladkov.
