We are fighting for all of Europe, but they won’t take us into NATO – Zelensky
Kiev
Following the latest NATO summit, Ukraine did not receive the specific promises it had hoped for.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in a statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
According to him, Ukraine responded positively to the summit’s decision that Ukraine would one day become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.
“At the same time, the decision of the current summit lacks a specific time frame for the next steps in our rapprochement with NATO, which we had hoped for,” complained Ukrainian President Zelensky, as quoted by his official website.
He argues that Ukraine, although not a NATO member, is already “contributing its significant share to ensuring Euro-Atlantic security.”
“The confrontation with Russian aggression in the east, during which, unfortunately, Ukrainian soldiers continue to die, is our invaluable contribution to the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic space,” the President of Ukraine believes.
He promises to raise the issue of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations at a meeting with US President Joe Biden.
“Ukraine’s role in ensuring global security must be properly assessed,” Zelensky believes.
