WHO does not understand why Russia is better than Europe in dealing with the epidemic
The World Health Organization is trying to find out why European countries, unlike Russia, are not seeing a decrease in the number of patients with coronavirus infection.
The representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Vuinovich, stated this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta, answering the question why the incidence of covid is falling in Russia and growing in Europe.
“WHO is working to better understand this increase in transmission in Europe. Some of the reasons appear to be related to weakening public health measures, the co-spread of variants of the virus and people letting down their guard and not adhering to basic preventive measures,” the WHO spokesperson suggests.
“WHO's message remains the same. Basic public health measures remain the backbone of the pandemic response. Epidemiology shows that no country will be immune from the consequences of the pandemic until all countries are protected,” Vujnovic concluded.
