This was reported by the NATO press service.
Air patrols will form an important part of the alliance's role in maintaining security in the Black Sea region, as well as demonstrating NATO unity and addressing more challenging security environments.
“This is an important mission that will help ensure the safety of the skies over Romania. This is just one of many measures NATO has taken to strengthen our collective defense across the Eastern Alliance. From the Black Sea to the Baltics, the allies stand together. NATO is determined to defend any ally against any threat,” said NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu.
The Royal Air Force's multi-role fighters will be based at Mihai Kogalnican Air Base in south-eastern Romania for four months. They will work together with the Romanian Air Force to carry out the NATO mission, which is NATO's role in the field of air policing in the Baltic countries.
