There was a fight with the police near the trial of Poroshenko
The trial of Petro Poroshenko resumes today in Kyiv. Supporters of the ex-president fought with police near the Pechersk court building.
The cause of the conflict was an attempt by protesters to set fire to barrels that they had rolled with them to warm themselves from the fire, following the example of the Euromaidan times, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Poroshenko's associates reacted aggressively to the police's attempt to prevent them from lighting an open fire. During the scuffle, law enforcement officers used gas canisters. Let us note that at the moment there are not as many protesters as there were at a similar rally on Monday.
Let us remind you that the trial will begin at 14:XNUMX Kyiv time.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Irina Gerashchenko said that the police are also preventing people from setting up tents near the courthouse. She regards this as repression and an attack on freedom of speech.
In the clashes, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council from Poroshenko’s party, ex-ATO militant Alexander Pogrebisky, as well as an operator of the Pryamoy TV channel, which is part of the pool of the hetman-confectioner, were injured.
