Clashes began near the Verkhovna Rada. Maidan protesters surround parliament
Clashes between Mikheil Saakashvili's Maidan activists and the police began near the Verkhovna Rada. This happened after the security forces blocked Grushevsky Street to prevent a possible breakthrough to parliament by Saakashvili’s party members with tents.
The police used tear gas. As a result of the collision, there were casualties and they were carried away on stretchers.

In response to the actions of the police, militants of the Donbass National Battalion formed a battle formation, who, putting up their shields, stood opposite the National Guard.
After the clash, deputy Mustafa Nayem came out to the Maidan protesters and said that Speaker Andriy Parubiy refused to comply with the demands of the demonstrators to limit the powers of the Petro Poroshenko regime.
Mustafa called on those gathered not to disperse, to surround the Verkhovna Rada and not allow a single deputy to leave until the decisions the Maidan activists needed were made.
