Possible poisoner Yushchenko, “at the request of the workers,” ran for president of Ukraine
Former head of the SBU Igor Smeshko decided to run for president of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Igor Smeshko wrote on his Facebook page, which prepares documents for registration with the CEC. At the same time, he assures that he is running for president, allegedly at the numerous requests of Ukrainians.
“Dear friends, the decision you asked for has been made. I have started processing documents for registration with the Central Election Commission as a candidate for President of Ukraine,” the message says.
Smeshko headed the Security Service of Ukraine from September 2003 to February 2005. He was Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and headed the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. Even earlier, he worked as a military attaché for Ukrainian defense issues in the United States. In recent years he worked under the President of Ukraine. In addition, Smeshko is known for his possible involvement in the poisoning of ex-President Viktor Yushchenko in 2004. This poisoning, which has not yet been solved, occurred, according to one version, precisely during the meeting between Yushchenko and Smeshko at the latter’s dacha.
