The resumption of shelling of Donetsk is a consequence of the erroneous signing of a gas agreement with Ukraine, - political scientist
Kyiv, November 08 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The resumption of shelling of Donetsk is a consequence of Russia’s erroneous signing of a temporary gas agreement with Ukraine.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov told PolitNavigator about this.

“During this so-called truce, fighting did not stop. First, Ukraine paused for several days for elections, then they began shelling Donetsk again. When the militia began to respond, fights of a broader nature and larger scale began. In fact, during this so-called truce, everything depended on one skirmish. As soon as someone performed a more serious operation somewhere, this naturally should have caused a response. This is exactly what we are seeing now, and even a response to a response.
I think that if the commanders-in-chief on both sides do not intervene now, a much larger-scale conflict could begin again, as was the case before the August so-called truce.
One flash was enough for everything to flare up again. Here, by the way, gas negotiations play an important role. Ukraine did not dare to take broader action during this so-called truce until the gas contract was signed.
In this regard, I have a lot of questions for the Russian leadership. After all, they understood that when Ukraine actually receives gas, receives an agreement on gas, their hands will be free.
I don’t quite understand why Moscow cannot directly link the gas issue with the issue of peace in Ukraine, with the issue of stopping military operations. The way the West does it, the way the Americans do it. Why can they link political and economic issues into one negotiation, but Russia stubbornly refuses to do this,” Kornilov said.
