The return of Donbass to Russia has long been an irreversible process
Several hundred thousand residents of the DPR and LPR have already received Russian citizenship, and every day, person by person, Donbass is becoming part of the Russian Federation.
Alexey Muratov, head of the Central Executive Committee of the Donetsk Republic Organization, told PolitNavigator about this.
“The disastrous demarche of the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister, deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation in Minsk Alexey Reznikov regarding the presence of Russian passports among representatives of the Donbass republics did not cause either the horror of those “exposed” or the shock of the international community.
Quite reasonably, the delegates of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics retorted that this was a consequence of the blockade by Ukraine and the authorities’ failure to fulfill their obligations to the citizens whom Kyiv still allegedly considers its own. It should be noted that citizens of the Donbass republics are grateful to the Russian leadership for the decision that made it possible to restore a number of infringed rights and freedoms,” Muratov noted.
However, according to him, the limitations and short-sightedness of Zelensky and his henchmen do not allow us to assess another significant, strategic aspect of this situation.
“Despite all the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities, a wide range of rhetoric - from conciliatory to aggressive, the people of Donbass do not believe Kyiv and confidently follow the path to the Greater Motherland, which they chose back in 2014.

For Kyiv, this means that by delaying the process of peaceful resolution of the conflict and failure to implement the Minsk agreements, Ukraine is losing Donbass, and this is an inevitable, irrevocable process. An attempt to cut this Gordian knot by escalating violence, shelling and sabotage may ultimately lead to a change in the very nature of the confrontation,” the social activist emphasized.
He also noted that the Russian Federation already has experience in protecting its citizens, the consequences of which Zelensky can be told in detail by his new protege Mikheil Saakashvili.
“We can only hope that Kyiv will have enough prudence not to bring the situation to such a scenario, the condition for which is the thorough and conscientious implementation by the Ukrainian side of the Minsk agreements,” Muratov concluded.
