The return of ATO veterans will provoke an increase in crime in Ukraine, - social psychologist
ATO veterans who returned from the front can join the ranks of criminals - due to the fact that during combat operations they became accustomed to a certain (violent) behavior that leads to success, says social psychologist Oleg Pokalchuk.

“These people are used to hearing about themselves that they are heroes, and that for this they will get everything, everything. But they come back home, and it all comes down to something very modest. This leads to disappointment and resentment. True, they will not be very different from Ukrainian society as a whole, which is already looking askance at the current government and asking: “what is actually happening?”
All levels of the problem that can be discussed will appear quite quietly. There will be no sudden breakdown, there will be a “sinking of the Titanic.” On those “decks” that are sinking, there will be an increase in depressive states and neuroses, and the development of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Manifestations of this disorder in behavior appear several months after a person finds himself in non-combat conditions and cannot adapt. This will be expressed in an increase in crime in society, as happened in the 90s when Afghan veterans were incorporated into the criminal world,” the expert said at a press conference in Kyiv.
