Impressed by the latest successes of the Aerospace Forces in Syria, Washington asks for a “regime of silence”, saving militants
Washington comes to the defense of radical Islamists and passes off the anti-government groups Ahrar al-Sham and Jaish al-Islam, which Moscow considers terrorist, as moderate opposition in Syria, Izvestia reports.

The publication, citing its own sources, notes that Washington asked Russia to introduce a “regime of silence” in Syria for a week in order to separate the moderate opposition from terrorist groups.
“Moscow has already said that enough time was given for the groups on the ground to decide for themselves whether to lay down their arms or not. The ceasefire, which has been in force for several months, has given a clear picture — who wants to continue fighting, and who is looking for a political solution to the conflict. At the same time, we should not forget that detachments of terrorist organizations, in particular Jabhat al-Nusra, located in the same areas as the moderate opposition, took advantage of the fact that the Russian Aerospace Forces did not carry out strikes there and partially restored their combat effectiveness. If the air operation is stopped, the militants could again take advantage of this,” a source close to Russian-American negotiations on the Syrian issue told the publication.
It is worth saying that the support of the Aerospace Forces played a decisive role in Damascus’s latest serious military successes in Aleppo, where government troops for the first time managed to encircle the militants and drive them out of a number of areas.
True, Russian experts warn that the US desire to establish a “regime of silence” may not be caused by good intentions.
“The main thing in this matter — don't be made a fool. We must understand that the regime of silence can be used to redeploy terrorists and regroup forces, — Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Vladimir Komoyedov told Izvestia. — It is high time to engage in a joint regime of silence and launch coordinated strikes. We have a common task with the USA — achieve victory over ISIS. All of Europe, and maybe half of the globe, suffers from them. But America has just woken up.”
