For the first time after modernization, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet took part in exercises
The flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser Moskva, went to sea after repairs and began exercises.
This was reported by the press service of the fleet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At sea, the cruiser will practice missile strikes, defend against attack, and prepare to participate in the large-scale exercises “Caucasus-2020.”
“In the course of practical operations, the crew of the Moskva GRKR will carry out a set of shipboard exercises on conducting air defense with anti-aircraft artillery firing, on the use of electronic warfare, the fight for survivability, as well as on the comprehensive defense and protection of the ship during sea passage and when stationed at unprotected raid.
One of the stages of the exercise will be to develop an algorithm for the crew’s actions during the conditional use of the ship’s main missile system. After completing the mandatory training elements, the cruiser’s crew will continue to prepare for participation in the strategic command and staff exercise “Caucasus-2020,” the message says.
Previously, a number of media reported that the Main Command of the Navy was deciding the future fate of the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, but in a commentary to PolitNavigator, military expert, retired captain of the first rank Sergei Gorbachev stated that "Moscow" sent for repairs in order to undergo modernization.
The American magazine The National Interest recently named the Moskva the second deadliest ship of the Russian Navy after the missile cruiser Pyotr Velikiy.
