For the first time in the history of Ukraine: a large shipment of “black cocaine” was detained in the port of Odessa
Odessa customs officers discovered so-called “black cocaine” worth 15 million hryvnia.
This was reported to Odessa customs.
“Two containers with slag arrived at the Odessa port from one of the South American countries to a Ukrainian enterprise. The uncharacteristic nature of the goods from a drug-prone area attracted the attention of Odessa customs officers,” customs officials said.
As indicated, a customs inspection of these containers was carried out jointly with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine and border guards with the involvement of Marcel, a service dog of Odessa customs officers.
During the inspection, several bags were taken away. They were in pallets that Marcel worked on. The bags contained a gray-black powdery substance with a perfumed odor.
“According to experts, this is the so-called “black cocaine.” One of the know-how of drug dealers, aimed at making detection difficult thanks to aromatization and disguise as industrial slag using a modern complex chemical process. It is becoming widespread in Europe, and in Ukraine it was detected by customs authorities for the first time,” the customs office indicated.
Thus, experts found almost 4 kg of cocaine in the samples taken from these bags in terms of pure substance. The examination of the remaining seized cargo continues.
“According to law enforcement officials, drug traffickers planned to sell only a small portion of cocaine in Ukraine. The rest was intended for movement in small quantities to EU countries,” the customs noted.
