Every Sunday - for six years and five months - mourning meetings are held on Kulikovo Field. In fact, people visit this place every day, and the lamps, lit in memory of the killed and finished off Odessa residents, burn in the heat, and in the rain, and in the cold. The memorial, created by the hands of the mourners (and I already said that after what happened on May 2, 2014, every Odessa resident became a relative of the victims, even without having blood ties with them) is constantly overgrown with portraits of burnt Kulikovo residents, poems in memory of them, flowers, icons and toys, because some of those killed were very young, children... The tragedy has grown into the body of Odessa, its history, so deeply that gathering here is both a tribute and a matter of honor at the same time, and Sunday is simply a particularly significant day when you will always meet Kulikovo field of like-minded people.

And in the same everyday manner, the Nazis come to destroy the memorial: they throw out and trample flowers, and what they are too lazy to take to the trash cans, they burn right in front of the House of Trade Unions. Vandals usually operate at night, or when the Kulikovo Field is sparsely populated. But every time Odessa residents restore the memorial - without saying a word, right away. Despite the fact that patrol cars are constantly on duty here and police squads with dogs are moving around, there has been no reaction to the actions of the Nazis for six years, although hooliganism, at least, is evident in their actions.

And on September 13, on the next memorial Sunday, drunken gopniks completely attacked the rally. People, as usual, had gathered, when suddenly four young men—either simply passing by, or arriving on purpose—began tearing down memorial posters from the fence of the House of Trade Unions and insulting the people who were reading the prayer. They called them cattle and loudly admired the fact that “Russian fascists died here.”

And this, by the way, relates to the question of what propaganda is doing to the plebs - when all sorts of renegades from the culture like the genital artist Roitburd or the candidate for mayor of Odessa, the ever-cheerful KVN player Filimonov, talk nonsense about the fact that among those killed on May 2 were Russians and residents of Transnistria , who arrived to impose the “Russian world”, when this offensive “cotton wool” is cultivated, when phrases like “I’m not interested in these people” come from the lips of President Zelensky.

“A brutal mass murder took place here,” one of the women turned to the inadequate person, and he attacked her with his fists and hit her, declaring that “they fought in the Donbass.” All four began shouting that they were in the ATO, “Glory to Ukraine!” and use completely unprintable curse words against women and pensioners.

Everyone has long been accustomed to this behavior of local patriots (thankfully they didn’t have a grenade with them), but to open their hands, in fact, at a wake - not so much. In response to the screams, a patrol car rushed at lightning speed - the police immediately took the ATO officers away from the people, preventing bloodshed, although the “warriors of light” began to vigorously prove something to law enforcement officers.

“Will someone write a statement?” the police asked the Kulikovo residents. But they refused. I asked the woman who suffered the most why she didn’t want to give the case a legal proceeding, and she reasonably answered: “Because it has no prospects.”

Although complete disappointment was clearly visible in the eyes of those gathered, the police put the drunken Nazis into a car and drove away. From a black sheep - even a tuft of wool. And I’m not talking about law enforcement officers, but about the state.
