Sevastopol doctors were prohibited from prescribing medications not included in the Russian registry
Sevastopol, July 03 (Navigator, Olga Nikolaeva) – Doctors in Sevastopol now do not have the right to prescribe medications that are not included in the Russian register of medications.
The head of the main health department, Yuri Voskanyan, stated this during the medical board.

“If a drug is not registered, it cannot be prescribed by a doctor,” he said.
In addition, Voskanyan warned doctors against prescribing biologically active additives (BAS) to patients due to the lack of evidence of their effectiveness and not registered as medicines in Russia. “The main difference between dietary supplements and drugs is the lack of clinical trials confirming their effectiveness,” he explained.
However, the head of the department admitted that the experience of the drug control system operating on the territory of Ukraine was better than the Russian one, and will be used in the Russian Federation. “This experience will definitely be replicated and developed in Russia,” he said.
He also stated that according to Russian law, pharmacy chains are prohibited from prescribing medications at the request of patients. Pharmacy workers can only explain to the patient the rules for storing the drug.
“I strongly recommend pharmacists and pharmacists who dispense non-prescription drugs to refuse treatment recommendations. Prescribing medications is the job of a medical worker,” Voskanyan said.
