The enemy will not pass: Ukraine strengthens its defense of Eurovision
Next year Ukraine will change the rules for admitting performers to the Eurovision qualifying competition.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirillenko stated this on the Pryamiy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This will no longer happen, because Public Television will introduce a special norm into the rules for selecting Ukraine’s representative for Eurovision, which will make it impossible either for him to tour on the territory of the aggressor state, or for this participant to not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine. How was it with the question “whose Crimea?” said Kilylenko.
This year's Eurovision qualifying competition in Ukraine is plagued by scandals. The soloist of the group YUKO Yulia Yurina turned out to be a citizen of the Russian Federation, members of the group ANNA MARIA, Crimean sisters Opanasyuk, refused to recognize the “occupation” of the peninsula by Russia. And the winner of the selection, singer MARUV (Anna Korsun), did not want to give up touring in Russia, and for this she was deprived of the right to represent Ukraine at Eurovision.
