Russia's enemies supported a gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine
Despite the fact that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is not a friend of Russia, she is forced for economic reasons to support the completion of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
“Germany is the largest consumer of Russian gas. It objectively economically needs the supply of our gas as the cheapest,” Simonov said.
“The Germans love money and know how to count it. And it is right. This is a serious argument. Not to mention the fact that Nord Stream 2 comes directly to Germany. And it is also turning into a transit distributor of Russian gas. This is why Frau Merkel defends Nord Stream 2, despite the fact that she certainly cannot be called a friend of Russia,” the expert emphasized.
He noted that of the political forces in Germany, only the “greens” are strongly opposed.
“Germany is now in two energy transitions at once. She intends to close nuclear power plants and abandon coal. This means that gas demand in Germany will increase. She simply won’t stand it, she won’t be able to cope without gas,” Simonov concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, Germany bypasses US sanctions and promises the completion of Nord Stream 2.
