The acting governor of Sevastopol crushes competitors with a mass of municipal employees
Acting Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov collected signatures from 70% of municipal deputies for his candidacy in the gubernatorial elections. According to local law, in order to participate in the elections, a candidate only needs to collect 12 municipal votes (10%).

Considering that 10 candidates have now submitted documents to the city election commission, it is clear that Ovsyannikov’s “initiative” technically cuts off 6 of them. Communist Roman Kiyashko has enough votes (he is helped by A Just Russia).
In addition, Sevastopol observers believe that United Russia, which “holds” the majority of municipal deputies, will allow a representative of the parliamentary LDPR and pocket opponent Ivan Ermakov, nominated by Patriots of Russia, to participate in the elections.
As Kommersant writes today, International Party candidate Denis Merkulov complained about Ovsyannikov’s “greed” to the chief federal inspector for Sevastopol, Alexander Antontsev, and to the presidential administration. The letter states that by law the required number can be exceeded by no more than one.
Press secretary of the acting governor Grigory Builov told Kommersant that all procedures necessary for the nomination and registration of Dmitry Ovsyannikov are carried out “strictly according to the law.”
“Each municipal deputy makes the decision to support this or that candidate independently - this is his freedom of choice,” Builov noted.
The most dangerous competitors of Ovsyannikov in the elections in Sevastopol are considered to be ex-People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadim Kolesnichenko and federal-level politician Sergei Baburin. Apparently, in order to neutralize them, United Russia hastened to bind all its municipal workers with signatures.
