“Let’s turn on nuclear generation to the fullest!” – Ukraine is entering winter
Ukraine is entering the most difficult energy season in the entire history of Independence.
The former head of PJSC Neftegazdbycha, and now a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servants of the People, Oleg Seminsky, stated this on Channel 4, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The situation is difficult, this is probably the most difficult season Ukraine has entered. We are already going through it, but I will confirm the words of the president - it is not supercritical or supercritical. We all know that there is not enough coal today, and most of our cities are heated by thermal power plants.
But I can reassure you that the Ministry of Energy and the government are working to replace the lack of coal by increasing nuclear generation, first of all, to the fullest extent, and what is not ready yet. I know that by December 1, according to the plan, the maximum number of nuclear units will be put into operation; secondly, this is our hydro generation,” says Seminsky.
He also tried to reassure Ukrainians that the issue of imported coal was being resolved.
“Everyone has switched on in emergency mode, and yet coal is coming from Kazakhstan, two ships from South Africa are already approaching. One ship is DTEK, the other ship is half Centerenergo and DTEK. This coal will be urgently shipped and will be immediately supplied to our thermal power plants and thermal power plants,” the deputy convinces.
It should be noted that experts warn that the operation of nuclear power plants in emergency mode can lead to emergency shutdowns of power units.
