All the stories about gas tankers and cheap reverse turned out to be lies
Statements that Europe will be able to replace Russian gas with liquefied fuel tankers from the United States, and that the solution for Ukraine is a cheap return from the EU, turned out to be a lie.
Political scientist Sergei Mikheev stated this during the program “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Moscow should use to its advantage the crisis that has arisen as a result of the legal battle with Ukraine in the Stockholm arbitration.

“All the stories about cheaper reverse gas turned out to be lies...
For us, this situation, no matter how it ends, is another incentive in the style of “if there was no happiness, but misfortune would help.” This is another incentive to do everything possible to minimize transit through Ukraine as soon as possible.
Whether she buys gas from us or not does not matter, if only because she will do it through Europe. It will still be our gas, it will just be more expensive for her, and someone else will profit from it,” the political scientist said.
According to Mikheev, this situation once again proved that all the talk in Europe that they will find an alternative to Russian gas is simply a lie.
“They built the pipe during the Soviet Union during the Cold War because there was no other alternative, or it was more expensive and inconvenient. The same thing is happening now,” the expert said.
“The current state of affairs shows how much more profitable it is to receive gas directly through the gas pipeline than by any liquefied gas tankers. You can increase or, conversely, decrease gas supplies at any time; there is a one hundred percent guarantee that it will be. Try to urgently find a hundred tankers with liquefied gas. There is none of them. Moreover, there is a risk that while the tanker is sailing, the price of gas may change and it will sail back.
All this suggests that Europe has nowhere to escape from our gas. In this regard, we need to take a much tougher position and show where their place is. We simply spoiled them with our too soft position. We need to make it clear to them that their dependence on Russian gas is very large,” the political scientist concluded.
