Vitaly Makhinko, chairman of the Ukrainian trade union movement Labor Solidarity, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Since the end of May, many agencies that provide employment have seen a significant drop in the number of clients looking for work abroad. A lot of people went to work using biometric passports. Neither the Ukrainian nor the Polish side know how much. The three-month period is now ending and many are returning. There are many cases when Ukrainian workers went to work officially without a visa. According to our data, a large number of Ukrainians who went to work legally without a visa and were promised a work permit did not receive such permits. We receive a lot of such calls to our hotline,” said the trade unionist.
“You can work in Poland without a visa,” Makhitnko added. – You can travel without a visa, during this time get a job, get a six-month work permit, then get an annual permit there and apply for a temporary residence permit. Therefore, a Ukrainian citizen with a biometric passport can go to Poland and stay there forever. They say that without a work visa you can’t find a normal job, but since there is a shortage of labor on the Polish labor market, such opportunities now exist.”
