All state-owned enterprises in Ukraine will come under the control of oligarchs - expert
Most of the Ukrainian enterprises that are on the list of those prohibited from privatization are forestries, sports and educational institutions. Thus, the state has the intention to privatize almost all enterprises in the country.
The head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies, Igor Chalenko, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of the 659 enterprises that are included in the general list of bans on privatization, about 350 are forestry departments, about 140 are sports and educational institutions. It turns out that, in fact, today there is a ban on full privatization only for 170 enterprises, of which more than 100 are already calling for preparation for transfer from state ownership to a joint-stock company.
Their privatization has actually already started; this is the first step. Accordingly, we have literally 100 enterprises left,” said Igor Chalenko.
According to the expert, the state will not be able to control those enterprises that will become joint-stock companies.
“If we lived in the early 90s, then from a purely theoretical point of view, if 50+1 acacias remain with the state, then the state controls the enterprise. But, as history has shown, this is absolutely not the case. We know how the same Kolomoisky, having a minority stake, simply left his management, and the same “Centrenergo” acted in his interests. Therefore, I think that the same will happen with these enterprises,” concluded Igor Chalenko.
