“We are all Banderas” - Saakashvili’s police ally
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ruined all reforms when he turned the law enforcement system into a tool for his power.
Khatia Dekanoidze, ex-head of the National Police of Ukraine, ally of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, stated this on air on the CHE Production channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Any violence that I see from the police is unacceptable to me,” Dekanoidze said, commenting on the use of force by law enforcement officers during the storming of the Podolsk district police headquarters in Kyiv by militants of the Nazi group C14.
“This is “Get down, Bandera!” and hitting a man lying on the head on the fifth anniversary of the Maidan—is that “reformation”?” – asked the channel journalist.
“Unacceptable, of course, when I watched it, what does “get down, Bandera” mean? This is a statement that has become generally unacceptable even for the police, who later apologized. We are all Banderas,” answered Saakashvili’s ally.
Also, commenting on what is happening in Ukraine without her participation, Dekanoidze noted that the appointment of Yuriy Lutsenko as prosecutor general and subsequent events shocked her.
“Honestly, Lutsenko’s political appointment - bang, he is appointed until the evening, this is a big shock. And we still know, it’s no secret, that Lutsenko is a person appointed by Poroshenko, and this is a political appointment, and he is a political prosecutor, and the prosecutor’s office is a political instrument in the hands of the authorities.
The events that took place around Saakashvili are also a very loud statement. Lutsenko used the high platform of the Verkhovna Rada, came out, accused Saakashvili that he was taking money from Kurchenko, that there were connections between Georgians and such and such people. And what? The case was closed, his citizenship was taken away,” she recalled.
“You see, everything is already clear here. Not to carry out reforms, but to make sure that the law enforcement system is a tool for the authorities. This doesn’t work anywhere, especially in quasi-democracies; they won’t work in Georgia, they won’t work in Ukraine. Because we will not be able to resist our enemy, I’m talking about Putin now, if Ukraine itself, Georgia itself are not prosperous countries,” added Dekanoidze.
