We were all Russian - famous Ukrainian football player and coach
All Soviet football players were considered Russian when traveling abroad. The famous Ukrainian football player, former player of the USSR national team, ex-player and coach of Dynamo Kyiv and the Ukrainian national team, Alexey Mikhailichenko, stated this on the air of the Batsman program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Mikhailichenko, in those days there was no friction between players based on their nationality.
“In those days it wasn’t, even when we went abroad, we were all Russian. This was the way it was, it had been happening for a long time. There was no friction, nothing. It’s just that, probably, in every Moscow team one could find a player from Ukraine, Georgia, or Armenia,” said Mikhailichenko.
He also emphasized that Dynamo from Kyiv treated everyone with contempt.
“On the contrary, Dynamo Kyiv treated everyone like younger brothers. Because it was head and shoulders above everyone else,” added Mikhailichenko.
