Everyone hates Erdogan and is waiting for Turkey’s fatal mistake in Karabakh - expert
It is not profitable for Turkey to openly get involved in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, because it is in a vulnerable international position, has no serious allies and risks running into sanctions.
Eastern expert Ilya Kusa stated this on the video blog of Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kusa, a powerful coalition is being assembled against Turkey, which official Ankara has nothing to oppose.
“This is Turkey’s weak spot now – that they have a very toxic foreign policy environment. In fact, they have few allies - count Azerbaijan, Qatar, basically everyone.
Pakistan, which verbally supported, I don’t count them. They have few allies. Qatar, it has really poured a lot of money into the Turkish economy in recent years, saving it very seriously. It’s understandable, because Turkey literally saved them, at least from a coup, and at most from occupation.
Recently there were publications that Saudi Arabia was preparing to occupy Qatar in 16. I don’t know whether this is true or not, but the fact that there was preparation for a coup is one hundred percent, and Turkey stopped it. And this is their weak spot.
Moreover, this toxic environment has begun to take shape in a real anti-Turkish alliance - all these countries: the Emirates, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, France, and Armenia are trying to play on this. And this, I think, is a serious argument.
If they promote this, if they manage to push through the issue of pressure, and Turkey, whatever one may say, is economically dependent on the same West, on Europe and is sensitive to various fluctuations, especially if sanctions are introduced... Therefore, in this regard, I believe that that’s an interesting factor,” Kusa said.
