All reforms of Peter the Great were made by Ukrainians - historian Brekhunenko
The first All-Russian Emperor Peter I was supposedly an ordinary “Moscow” prince, and all reforms were carried out by Ukrainians and Germans.
This was stated during a press conference by Doctor of Historical Sciences, head of the department of archaeographic acts at the Institute of Ukrainian Archeography and Source Studies. M.S. Grushevsky NAS of Ukraine Viktor Brekhunenko, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“All the reforms of Peter I are a copy of the Dutch model. This “great genius” did not know where to get these samples for reform. And this was done by Ukrainian hands and Ukrainian intellectual efforts, and by the Germans, whom Peter I en masse involved in all this,” he assures.
As confirmation of the “insignificance” of Peter I in the political arena of that time, Viktor Brekhunenko told how the daughter of the first emperor did not marry the French king.
“And how this “genius” was interpreted in Europe at that time is very clearly visible in marriage strategies. When Peter I wanted to marry his daughter Lisa to Louis XVII, the shafts were carefully unwrapped for him in Paris, and she was given to the Polish Stanislav Leszczynski, who still had to be made king. This is how Peter I and Russia were interpreted. He was treated like the previous Moscow princes. In Europe at that time, no one saw any genius, and no one made any allusions to nomadic empires and universal projects,” the odious historian shared his “information.”
