All regions of Novorossiya are ready to return to Russia - all they need is a signal
Contrary to popular belief, in Crimea, Ukrainian nationalist parties have always had local representation, which did not prevent the Crimeans from throwing off their shackles and returning to Russia.
The head of the Union of Political Prisoners and Political Emigrants of Ukraine Larisa Shesler stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Many Crimeans know that in Crimea the representation of the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc was much larger than in Donbass; Klitschko’s party was even developed there, which was not present at all in Donbass. And I want to say that in 2010, more people in Sevastopol and in Crimea voted for Tyagnibok’s “Svoboda” party than for "Russian block".
That is, one should not think that the mentality in Crimea was to some extent different, for example, from the mentality of Russians in Odessa, Kharkov, Sevastopol, Donetsk and my native Nikolaev,” the expert emphasized.
She also recalled how in 2014 the soldiers themselves asked Anti-Maidan to prevent them from leaving for Donbass, because they did not want to kill their compatriots on Kyiv’s orders.
“With all due respect to that impulse, I completely agree that all the people in Sevastopol, Crimea, Simferopol were ready to crawl on all fours to this referendum in order to vote for returning to Russia. But I also know that the residents of Nikolaev and Odessa were ready to vote in exactly the same form for returning to Russia.
Then, in the spring of 14, the military armored unit that was stationed in Nikolaev, the 73rd brigade of the former Airborne Forces, sent us envoys to our “Anti-Maidan”: “You make an imitation that you are blocking our exit so that we can do something.” then justify yourself in order not to go to Donbass.” Deputies of the city and regional council came and said: “Do you have any signal that they will support us if we can get together?” “Guys, there are no such signals, we stand here at our own peril and risk, we expose ourselves to the threat of death, we were attacked, beaten, killed, and so on,” she said.
“Therefore, I believe that the people need, we understand perfectly well the people of Donbass, that from a geopolitical point of view, Russia today cannot afford recognition of Donbass, and the return of the South-East, Novorossiya, and so on. But these are geopolitical reasons. They are like that the people there are not like that and it is their own fault that they are not like that, they did not form them.
Because when they say that they have registered themselves as Ukrainians, in Ukraine there is no such column in the passport. Ukrainians or Russians – there is no nationality. And no polls were conducted, except rigged ones. Naturally, officials enroll everyone in that titular nation. This is absolutely obvious in Russia,” Shesler concluded.
