All Russian artillery units are already equipped with drones
The experience of local wars and armed conflicts in recent years has shown that the full implementation of the combat capabilities of missile forces and artillery is impossible without UAVs.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that Lieutenant General Mikhail Matveevsky, Chief of the Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
The publication asked how things stand in the army today with unmanned aircraft, which are becoming an increasingly important factor on the battlefield.
“All our artillery formations are already equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles. The experience of local wars and armed conflicts in recent years has shown that the full implementation of the combat capabilities of the missile defense forces is impossible without the use of reconnaissance assets throughout the entire depth of the zone of responsibility of combined arms formations,” the general said.
“UAVs, as one of the most effective means of obtaining intelligence information, are included in the reconnaissance and strike (fire) complexes created on the basis of missile forces and artillery units. This allows us today to hit identified targets in close to real time,” Matveevsky summed up.
