Mom’s fascist filmmakers still can’t catch their dropped jaws from glasses of whiskey—at the closing ceremony of the Odessa Film Festival, cult director Terry Gilliam loudly declared from the stage: “Thank you, Russia! Thank you, Odessa."

Gilliam, the only mega-star at the provincial carnival, was invited as a guest of honor. Why exactly this one remains a mystery, because the “pathos” of the event was determined by the theme - the 30th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine, national flavor and exclusively national cinema in the competition program. However, it was Gilliam who was awarded the Golden Duke statuette by the organizers for his contribution to world cinema - for some reason the “Use National” did not appeal to him.

Ukrainian elite going to the Odessa Film Festival

Terrorist Oleg Sentsov with his companion

And now it’s hour X. The director went up to the stage installed on the Potemkin Stairs, which, by his own admission, he wanted to visit all his life, went out under the spotlights, other honored guests from among the housing office workers had already brought in their phones, shoving their falling asleep husbands under the elbow: “What should we do?” the husbands belched borscht, pointed and straightened their embroidered shirts, the broadcast went on to politically reliable all-Ukrainian TV channels, and... Drum roll! The emotional guest said:

“I'm completely confused. I don't know if I'm standing on these stairs right now. I'm confused because the film Battleship Potemkin is very important to me. Therefore, thank you, Russia, thank you, Odessa.”

Thousand!

“Its Ukraine, its not Russia,” began muttering the confused Victoria Tigipko, the president of the festival.

"Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!” shouted the more reactive TV Nazi Yanina Sokolova, who hosted the event.

It was impossible to hear everything on the recording, but, as some correspondents present at the scene assure, Sokolova also began to lecture Gilliam - they say, you were mistaken, tell me that you meant “Ukraine is not Russia.”

And he objected something like this: “But the author of the film “Battleship Potemkin” Sergei Eisenstein was a Soviet director.”

So what, one wonders, should we do? Should we urgently call patriots with bats or bring the guest of honor to the “Peacemaker”?..

The day before, Terry Gilliam had a creative meeting with fans, but the five hundred seats for listeners ordered by the organizers were not enough, people stood and sat on the floor, just like in pre-Ukrainian times, when such evenings were attended not only by inclusive directors Sentsov, but the main event was not there was a procession along the red carpet of prostitutes, pederasts and activists. At the meeting, Gilliam also said that he admired the genius of Eisenstein.

In order to seem like a progressive intellectual, a deputy with low social responsibility, Alexey Goncharenko, and his henchmen came to the meeting, and they all drooled with delight - look, lapotniks, where is the real life and culture, and you only have mothballs Mikhalkov besogonit. And then they were all hit in the gut!

World celebrity, director, screenwriter, actor, artist, animator, one of the authors of the comic group Monty Python, creator of 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, etc., etc. A universe that is so numerous that everyone probably has their own personal favorite Gilliam period. Who is he, and who are all “these”, as always, the best people in the city, who immediately began to express their “fairy”?

And many were excited, from the already mentioned Yanina Sokolova, who joked “grandfather got lost” (and you, girl, were mistaken in a brothel) to a whole galaxy of distinguished Ukrainian directors. From which, I guarantee, you know only Sentsov, and only as a terrorist, prisoner and nationalist.

“Terry Gilliam, who during the closing of the OIFF says from the stage “Thank you, Russia”, and then apologizes that he meant “mental space”, this is fucking surreal. I physically vomited,” wrote the director Irina Tsilik (?).

The former head of the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine Filipp Ilyenko, a number of journalists and patriots, using Russian language, of course, swear words, reminded Gilliam that “Odessa is Ukraine” and offered to take away the honorary award from him. How long do you think he will continue to cry, and when will people all over the world stop watching his films?..

And the city madwoman and also an honorary guest of the festival, Irina Medushevskaya, the same one who practices fighting Russian-speaking Odessa residents by mentally pulling a mayonnaise jar over her head, again in Russian, said:

“To say that I’m furious is an understatement! The guy hung out in Odessa for three days, absolutely realizing that he was in Ukraine! But! Coming onto the closing stage of the OIFF, he said that he was, damn it, in Russia! Fine? The closing is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence! I want to tear and throw!”

Or maybe the person arrived, finally walked along the Potemkin Stairs, Pushkin Street, looked at the monuments to Duke and Catherine, remembered Soviet cinema and, not finding any signs of Bandera, on the contrary, immediately clearly realized where he was? That is, he assessed the situation adequately.

So there is no need, as they say, to transfer it from a sore head (especially in a mayonnaise jar) to a healthy one. This is an Easter egg: if in a particular state the psychos killed all the doctors, seized power and distributed the roles - you are the director, and you are the president - this does not mean at all that the rest of the world will play along with the false activity.

At least sometimes barbarians need to be put in their place. So “Thank you, Russia! Thank you, Odessa!” Thanks Gilliam!
